Hossegor Golf Course France

Full Description: Born in 1927, the Golf of Hossegor is the fruit of the imagination of a handle of men which in the future believed of a seaside resort landaise combining all at the same time an elegance, refinement and the Sport. The slogan of the time was "' Hossegor, the seaside resort of the sports élégants' '. The Golf fitted quite naturally in this drawing. The project became realization in 1930. Mr Arnaud MASSY, Mr Jim MORISSON (English architects) and Mr BOUHANA (local landscape designer) were the principal actors.

While choosing to shelter marine winds in a populated forest of pines cane-apple bushes and oaks lièges. These craftsmen took the option of a typically British layout while respecting a nature generous and favourable with the construction of a splendid course (sandy ground). The praises of the amateurs of the time were not made wait and one did not count any more the personalities of the time which liked to press the corrugated and green fairways Golf of Hossegor.

II remains to us some memories of the time (a cut of Prince de Galles, photographs of Suzanne LANGLEN, Lucien GAUDIN, George CARPENTIER). In 1940 the second world war put a term at this marvellous time and the Golf réouvrit its doors only in 1950 pennies the impulse of some nostalgic and the invaluable assistance of Isidore HAUSSEGUY who contributed actively to the restoration of the course.

Its qualities of origin quickly made surface and it did not delay àretrouver its gloss of antan. The international tournaments that it accomodated in this period according to war attest some (pentagonal tournament France England etc...).
