Stockholms Golf course Danderyd
Full Description: Stockholm Golf Course is Sweden’s second oldest golf club dating back to 1904. One of the founders was Crown Prince Gustav Adolf, then a young golf enthusiast. He served as Chairman for many years before he became King Gustaf VI Adolf. In 1932 he inaugurated our present course at Kevinge together with the Prince of Wales.
Stockholm Golf Course has played host to the Emperor of Japan and other royal dignitaries (the Swedish Crown Princess Victoria is an honorary member), and also to a number of celebrity golfers, including Gene Sarazen, Bobby Locke, Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead, as well as Annika Sörenstam. Kevinge was created on the fundamental principles underlying British golfing traditions. Many classical championships have been played over the years on the Kevinge golf course, and to this day a number of national and international competitions are arranged here for both professionals and amateurs. It is most likely that the renowned course architect, H.S. Colt, contributed to the design of this classical parkland course. Kevinge has been reconstructed a few times over the years, but has nonetheless maintained its original qualities. The course is characterised by its many short holes, the undulating greens and its outstanding condition. Stockholm Golf Course is located about 7 km outside the city of Stockholm, and can easily be reached by the underground train. A variety of accommodation facilities are available within walking distance. Telephone +46 85 44 90 715 Fax +46 85 44 90 712 This Golf listing has been viewed 531 times.
